Philosophy Guy Show 76 Manic Music Monday

Happy Birthday Dad.

Today, December 30th, I celebrate my birthday.

I have the rare priveledge of having my birthday and the end of the year right next to each other.  Not great for gifts but great for reflection.

2010 and my 46th year was ok.  It started off pretty bad, but ended up ok.   

In January, I found myself, like many other Americans, unemployed.   Although I tried to keep a positive attitude and not to take my situation personally,  it is hard to do.   I was the one “personally” removed from my job.   I “personally” had to find a new job.  I “personally” could no longer provide for my family.   It was hard. 

My time off wasn’t all bad.  I was able to spend sometime getting to refocus on what I wanted to do.  I focused more on development than business analysis and was able to land a position in Madison.  Hurray.

Julie and the kids and I went on a great vacation to Washington State and British Columbia.  We had a great time meeting some awesome folks.  The kids had great time that they will remember for a long time.

Right after the vacation, I was able to start a new job with a good company.   I have been able to make an impact already. 

What kept me sane through it all is the love of Julie and the kids.   They never gave up on me and I didn’t give up on them.  I also had great support from all my friends  in the podcasting community.   The podcast community has been there with us and for us this year as I hope we have been for them.   For that I am very greatful.

I don’t make resolutions but I have a few goals:   I will be training and riding with Julie and others in the Scenic Shore 150 in July.    I will read more and need to write more.   I will expand my role at work as best as I can.  I will do my best to produce more shows. 

Today is the ending of the old and beginning of the new Dale.   I am thankful for all I have and look forward to all I will become.

I know I promised on Friday’s Philosophy Guy Show I would let you know on Sunday what the last two Podcasts of the week were for my week on the Podcast Pickle.

Well life gets in the way sometimes and I wasn’t able to put a show together.

Here they are.

Saturday: Perfect Head. This is P.W. Fenton’s great all music podcast. What was so cool about Saturday was that Pdub released episode 10. An all Three Blind Mice episode.  It was great.  Now I too am hooked on the Three Blind Mice.

Sunday: The Pete and Renee Show. This is a couple cast from a couple in New Jersey who talk about their sexual life and everything else. Definitely not kid or work safe, but fun.

I had a good day. I was lucky enough to go on a vendor sponsored golf outing at Geneva National in Lake Geneva Wisconsin. We played the Trevino course. It is suppose to be the easier of the three player courses. It was still very challanging. I did my normal 3-4 over par per hole. I got a 113 for 18.

I am hoping to get another podcast up this week.

Lots been happening in the world of the PhilosophyGuy.

PhilosophyGuy.Net is the official home of the soon to be PhilosophyGuy Podcast. I’m assembling the pieces I need to get this endeavor going.

It’s not as easy as I thought. I first had to get a domain. I wanted Philosophyguy.com, but is already used by a perfume brand called Philosophy. Who would have thought…. I wonder if its any good…..

Next I had to get a web host. Thanks to Squid at Lacewebfarms for providing hosting for the PhilosphyGuy podcast.

Lastly, I got to get my web site up. I’m hoping to get that done very shortly. Keep watching…..

I was bummed out after hearing about the bombings in London. I think it is more because that the war in Iraq will be hitting us closer to home that we had all had hoped.

My gut feeling is that we are beginning to see the beginnings of the larger ideological conflict between western culture and radical Islam. A progressively violent conflict.

I don’t think it is coincidental that the war is being played out in ancient Babalyon and the supposed Garden of Eden…

I hope I’m wrong.
